H.A.Y. Cambridge! How Are You? We are bringing together everything in Cambridge that promotes positive mental health. From a friendly ‘how are you’, to activity groups and much more – it’s all taking care of our mental wellbeing. Mental health isn’t something that is good or bad; it’s a continuum, a sliding scale, a constantly shifting state for each and every one of us. We all have mental health and so we all need to take care of our mental health – we don’t wait until we’re physically under the weather to do things we know are good for keeping us physically healthy and the same should be true of our mental health. So, let’s put a spotlight on all those things going on in the community that are good for our mental wellbeing.
We share details of any activity, group or venue in Cambridge who provide a wellbeing boost to local people, if they pledge their support to our vision: wherever you live in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, you will have access to the mental health support that you need when you need it. To send us details of your activity, please complete this form.
We encourage all activities featured on this site to participate in mental health training. You will see badges on each activity page showing which training has been completed. Find out more about training opportunities here.
The H.A.Y. websites bring together GP surgeries, specialist NHS mental health services, the local council, the voluntary sector and the wider community – we all have a part to play in supporting the mental health of local people. Gifted a smile today? Asked someone ‘how are you’? You are part of it too!
H.A.Y. Cambridgeshire and Peterborough began as part of the Peterborough Community Mental Health Exemplar project. Peterborough was chosen as one of 12 national NHS-England community mental health pilot sites aiming to use innovative approaches to transform community mental health services to provide ‘joined up’ physical, mental health and social care support that is easy to access and meets individual needs close to where they live. This new approach acknowledges that mental health challenges can affect every aspect of an individual’s life, so the NHS, local authority, third sector and community organisations are all working together. You can find out more about the Peterborough Exemplar here.
The Community Mental Health Exemplar aims to create a supportive mental health network for everyone, whether their mental health challenges are mild, moderate or severe. Crucially our approach recognises that everyone has strengths and that local community groups and organisations have a vital part to play in the health and wellbeing of the people of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
